Pokémon Go’s AR demo from Niantic and Microsoft is a vision of the future

Pokémon Go’s AR demo from Niantic and Microsoft is a vision of the future

Niantic has shown off what the future of Pokémon Go might look like during the Microsoft Ignite 2021 event. A proof-of-concept demonstration video shares a quick glimpse of how you could interact with Pokémon using an AR (or augmented reality) HoloLens headset.

In the short demo video, you can see a trainer wearing the HoloLens 2 headset, feeding berries to his Pikachu out in the wild, before entering a battle against another trainer with an Eevee.

We’re likely still a few years away from experiencing Pokémon using an AR headset, but the video nevertheless puts forward a tantalising vision of things to come. You can find a detailed blog post over on Niantic's official site, and the proof-of-concept video is available below. Needless to say, we're very excited to see what the future of Pokémon Go has in store for us.
