Square Enix has announced two new mobile games, both based on the timeless Final Fantasy VII.
One of them is a chapter-based single-player game called Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. It follows the arc of Final Fantasy VII and its spinoffs, and it was written by Kazushige Nojima, who wrote Final Fantasy VII Remake.
The other is a more leftfield choice for the long-running RPG franchise: a battle royale game called Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier. This one sees you playing a soldier and attempting to kill all of your counterparts before any of them can kill you.
As you can see in the trailer below, Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier is a slick-looking shooter with frantic gameplay and a mixture of conventional ordinance and magic stuff.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, meanwhile (above) looks like a more conventional experience, with familiar top-down visuals and cartoony characters.
Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier is due out later this year, while Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will be along next year.
